Personal Brand (@gideonfip, formerly FIP Crypto)

2026-04-01

FIP Crypto has been a personal brand that I’ve been building out since 2022 that I’ve since rebranded to @gideonfip.

Current direction

I pivoted away from airdrops because I was burnt out from the consistent grinding required and the pervasive scams in the space (wrote my thoughts here).

After being away from work due to my hospitalisation leave, I set a goal to become more fluent with AI and spent 2 months using AI every day.

With these new experiences and interest, I rebranded my Twitter to reflect my current personal brand and started a YouTube channel that has since grown from 2 to 335 subscribers in 2 weeks, generating 21,031 views across 14 videos.

My Backstory

I started out with a (now deleted) blog site, Financially Independent Pharmacist, that focused on making personal finance accessible for Singaporeans.

This evolved from a normal site sharing my thoughts to one that was SEO-focused, which brought in 3.2 million pageviews with Google as the main driver of traffic to my site.

I developed the skill of finding high-performing keywords with deep intent through Google Search’s auto-complete, but eventually saw it as a losing battle with the rise of ChatGPT in late 2022.

I made the decision to pivot into YouTube as I saw an opportunity to build an online presence with video, helping others to onboard into crypto.

I was too focused on SEO-based terms because of my previous background. While I had almost 1.8 million views, these were inconsistent across different videos depending on the interest.

I lost the motivation to film videos (because of how long it took to produce everything by myself), and decided to pivot towards building a personal brand on CT instead.

I’ve learnt that the most ideal way to build trust is through saying what you did, in a place where anyone would say anything to farm engagement.

I started out with writing guides on airdrops, before pivoting towards sharing more opinion-based content on airdrops with my newsletter.

I used a 2-point content system by first sharing my newsletters on Substack before republishing it on Twitter one week after, and this has helped me amass 4,600+ subscribers on Substack.

Since Mar 1 2026, here’s the current state of my CT account.
